The thing with Watkins Shepard is even if you don't meet their road experience requirements on paper. You still worse case only have to go to a 2 week training orientation. Train during the day, go to your hotel at night. After 2 weeks you get a truck of your own. Also when I done it. Nobody in my orientation group had a roommate at the hotel either.

Didn't Watkins Shepard get absorbed by Schneider?

Got off work and found I had emails from Freymiller, Jim Palmer, and Werner. They left numbers, so I'll call them back tomorrow at lunch. Still have Trans Am and USA Truck I haven't heard from. I'll still call Western Express back in the next day or say, and I'm supposed to hear back from Maverick tomorrow but I'm not expecting anything from either of them. Hopefully I'm surprised.
Also, I keep looking at Freymiller because they say they have a Restore Program for people who haven't driven OTR in a while but the email I got from their recruiting department and the preamble to the application all say you must have 6 months verifiable experience in the last 3 years. I guess I'll apply anyway and see what the recruiter says.Last edited: Sep 26, 2016

Not a great day. Werner, Jim Palmer, and USA Truck all said they need recent OTR experience. Lady at FreyMiller told me to call her back Monday so she has time to go over my app and see about the waiting list for the refresher program. Maverick said they where waiting on background reports and try them again Friday.
I'll call Western tomorrow. Hopefully at least they say yes.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
The recruiter from Western Express called me today. He asked me a couple questions about my app, then set a date of 10/16 for me to start orientation (didn't say where). He said he'd call if anything new came up.
I've come to realize that no one is going to hire me since I have no experience within the last few years and am not right out of school (I still don't understand why so many companies will take someone with no experience and no CDL over someone with no experience but a CDL. Like I'd have a better chance if I went back to a Class C license). My only shot is a company with a refresher course. Which means Western Express seems like a possible, I still have a chance at FreyMiller, and according to my googling the only other companies with a refresher course of any kind is Knight and CR England. Just filled out an application for Knight and about to do one for CR England.
If one of those 4 don't come through ...
