I always thought they can't ship my job overseas if I drive a truck. Guess what, they're not gonna give up trying to bring in the Mexicans and all the other foreign no-speakas to fill that seat.
Load boards are full of loads with rates that will leave you in the red but the talk of driver shortage is droning on in the media.
Advice on making the right choice!!!!!!

My personal expenses are pretty high with mortgage, car notes, insurance etc. I don't think I could save that much as a company driver for two years without going into my saving.

I would use your savings to pay down some of your debt if your thinking about the owner op part of this business. Before you know it, you'll have a truck note to add to it. Many owner ops are driving for free right now. You might not think so but they will figure out your new in this rat race and they will take advantage of you. Before you know it your savings will deminish. Imo. If it were me. I would get with a ltl outfit and never look back. Once your retired and debt free, you can borrow $200,000 from your retirement fund and buy a long nose triaxle with a big lowboy trailer with 3+ axles and leave it parked until they call you with $7 bucks a mile (round trip) lol
