its just hauling for trader joes, farthest i go is tucson on saturday, sometimes warehouse transfers to stockton if i want some extra cash on a day i would normally have off. After i post a few more times i can do PMs then i can do contact #s that way, and hook you up with a way to get ahold of the owner of the trucks. He still hasnt bought the 2 new trucks yet, nor hired anybody. Im here mainly to find a replacement for me, cause hes a good guy and i dont wanna leave him hanging. It was my frist trucking job and its same runs all the time and getting redundant, i wanted to do some OTR for a little while and go to orientation with schneider on sunday. But yeah, let me post a few more times so i can PM and ill get you set up chuck.

hey ex schneider driver johnday, How are they to work for? ill be doing solo western regional. They good at getting you home on time? do you have to fight for the correct pay? A lot of downtime? If you breakdown do they get roadside out quickly? A few of my concerns. You cant really find good things because the people that post about trucking companys are unemployed (usually their own fault im guessing) and are pissed about it and nothing but time to bash the company, the people that are happy are too busy working and making money to ##### and moan online. I chose schneider above all because i have read the least amount of negative things about them, and even some ex-driver that say they are a well organized company. Just wondering if well organized means you are always running and treated well, or if the driver takes a hit so they can afford to put a lot more people on the office end to make it organized. As long as my wheels are turning and im not fighting to get the correct paycheck im a happy guy.

    Socaldriver,
I know I'm not johnday, but I think I can answer some questions from experience. I also did solo western regional (home run). I was late for hometime twice by only one day. It seemed like wherever I was there was almost always freight to be picked up going into socal. And if there wasn't, it only took one run to get somewhere with the freight into socal. I've never had a problem with pay including my layover and detention. Its always been there the first time without having to ask. My experience with OTRM was as follows. When you call over the road maintenence they are usually friendly. They ask you general questions about the problem, get your number and contact whoever it is that will do the repair. Then that person contacts you and gives you an eta. I've had two flats on trailers. One outside of Boise on the Id 55. I sat for about 2 hours waiting and then only 20-30 mins to be changed. This was on a sun. Other time was at a shipper, King Soopers in Denver. I discovered a flat on my loaded trailer. There is a Wingfoot in Denver so again I had a very short wait time. About 1-1/2 hours in total. Discovered a screw in a steer tire at Waste Management in SLC. Drove 5 miles to a Wingfoot. Changed in 20 mins. I was fortunate enough to be in or around a major city all 3 times. But, I have confidence in there service network even if i were in NM on the 40. When I was 11 western I ran well and was happy. There are things that upset me. 2nd and 3rd shift operatins in Greenbay was always a nightmare to deal with. Long wait times on hold and the person you speak with rarely has the authority to do anything about your problem, not that I had a lot. Durring the day wait times on the phone could be long too. But when you get through, the person you speak with will help you very well and get the problem solved. If the problem was minor, or if I just had a question or concern, I would shoot over a free form on the qc and usually get an answer back within 10 mins. Overall I am happy. On western regional I was happy with the way things ran. There were minor hicups here and there, but nothing horrible. Local intermodal is good for the most part. I work thurs thru mon starting at 1800. My biggest gripe is not being payed hourly. Some nights I'll do 4-5 loads in 9-11 hours. Other nights I may only do 2-3 loads in the same time span. Those are the nights that bother me. Sorry for the rant. If you have any questions I'm always happy to help. Good luck. :biggrin_25525:

Re: Dolphin Trucking School (Covina, CA)

    Hola Amigos:

Dolphin Trucking School is where the Los Angeles Workforce Training dollars are spent. I called my contact at "El Projecto De La Barrio" (Worksource Sun Valley) and she told me to go to Dolphin. It is cheaper than the Roadmaster school.

I deviate for a moment: You can get free truck driver training by gaming the system in Los Angeles. Simply google for phone number of Transportation and Logistics Training at "El Projecto De La Barrio" (Worksource Sun Valley) and call.
You don't have to prove anything to do the paperwork to get over $3500 in benefits. It is money allocated to Los Angeles because the Port went Green and shut down all the old trucks and replaced them with politically correct green trucks with union drivers (that is another thread entirely).

I did the free training 3 years ago but did not pursue employment aggressively as I was having too much fun pretending to be Charly Sheen (see posts on Schneider and how they have issues with surfers with too much fun). Since my training is over 18 months old and I have not driven for hire in nearly four, I have to go back to training even though I have everything in my wallet to drive from Panama to the Artic.

So I called my "social worker" and Worksourse Sun Valley and fessed up to squandering my Charly Sheen money on the border and told her I needed approved training again. She sent me to Dolphin Trucking School Covina, CA.

The Admin office is is Covina, Ca but the real training is in Bell, Ca at the Salvation
Army Shelter. You even take a breathalizer test to ask for directions to the trucking program there. You will learn diversity and tolerance (unlike the pathological monsters Schneider uses for recruiters in fontana) as you blend in with people trying to improve their lot in life as we are all doing from different starting points.

In Los Angeles, money talks. I need 160 hours training somewhere acceptable to US Xpress to get to orientation (even though I can a set of triples empty in 80mph
winds in the icy Columbia River Gorge). I walked into the door and told what I needed to the man working in admissions at Dolphin and for Cash I get a piece of paper and training for one fourth the cost of expected price. That is how things work here so if you need a piece a paper that says you are qualified, show them the money.

I already called US Xpress and told them to line me up for orientation based on the handshake of a like minded person.

Tell people what you need and be prepared to pay cash. That is how things work here better.

SoCalDriver, I apologize for not replying to you in any sort of a timely manner, you could say I was on hiatus and just saw that you had asked me a question.
I hope R.Rodriguez answered your questions, I can do nothing but agree with him. I was on the homerun thing as well. I'll be totally truthful, if I could do OTR again, I'd be back, unless an O/O picked me up, then I'd really have to weigh the home time I got.
Out of all the big companies I've been with, SNI is the only one that has asked me a number of times to come back. It makes me feel decent, that a company that size can still recognize when a guy tries to do a good job, and appears to actually appreciate it. My old DBL called me personally.:biggrin_25525:

Dolphin Trucking School is now located in Commerce (near LA) and they work directly with Schneider recruiters to get you working (Dolphin is recommended on their Website)
