i was a student driver at cr England

After I passed my Cdl test I was licensed and put in an automatic truck! I asked my fm 5 or 6 times if I could be switched to a Truck with manual transmission but they said it was to much of a hassle to do that. Fast forward a month after my 180 hrs of otr training are complete they bring me back to upgrade to team and I have to test in a manual truck. Mind you I had been driving auto for a month and so I was a bit rusty with the gears. I fail the test and they let me go. Long story short I got a call a few days later saying I had to pay for my schooling because they terminated me! 5000$! Does anyone have any ideas on how to fight his or should I just not pay. It's extremely unfair that I requested to be switched to a different truck and now they want me to foot the bill for them not doing it

well i for one, am glad you asked for a shift.

    what to do now..???

you could NOT pay, then they will ding your credit.

or you COULD pay, and maintain a good credit rating.

    for me personally..??

    screw'em

after a while. your credit score improves, hell even bankruptcy people get better credit in short time.

by the way, you already have your CDL, they CANNOT take that away.......

Yeah I was scared of that part but now I just don't want my credit all messed up cus I'm just starting to establish it and I wanna eventually buy my own truck. And I'm also worried another company won't hire me because of it

You got screwed on a technicality. You shouldn't have to pay for it, but you will pay it eventually if you can't get them to hear you out and fix it. I had a different situation, but it ended in the same result: the school I didn't think I'd have to pay for was billing me in full plus charging a penalty (long story). They sent me bills and I ignored it. They added late fees and I ignored it. Eventually they sued me and I could no longer ignore it. I had to negotiate a settlement, make payment arrangements, and chip away at it until it was paid in full. The alternative was to screw up my credit for a longer period by declaring bankruptcy, and in my case it wasn't worth it.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Go get a better job and worry about the debt down the road. You should have no problem there. Make sure your new company isn't exclusively automatics or you'll never learn how to shift. You need to shift for several months straight and then you'll never forget how.

Mega's chew up and spit out trainee's like a pit bull with a baby kitten unfortunately. They usually do their homework very well ( in terms of legal repercussions on what you can and can't do to them when and if they fire you ) and you likely can't do much about the firing but grin and bear it, then start knocking on doors looking for another job. Good luck dude.
