So I have my eyes on an 05 Volvo. They’re asking less than $25k for it. I’m trying to price insurance to run under my own MC. I knew starting it out that it would be high. But $50k a year from progressive for the basic insurance requirements that Amazon asks for? Crazy. I’m in Atlanta, I know all insurances are higher here but ####. How did you guys start out?
Holy crap! Do you have bad credit, accidents, DUI, reckless driving conviction, or plan on hauling nuclear waste? I only ask because that's the highest I've seen anyone mention here. Even the Florida guys are laughing at you. Seriously, something is wrong if you got a quote that high. PS, a truck that old is going to #### you sideways.
If staying local, think 150 or 200 air miles, it's usually way cheaper than an OTR type of operation.
Insurance is going up, gotta keep up with inflation. Everything gone up 30-50% Why not insurance. Shoot my mid policy change was brutal. Went up 100% Well, at least it’ll put the 2 dollar a mile guys packing…
that’s what I was thinking. My fico is around 680. Maybe I should wait until it’s higher but idk. They quoted me before even asking for my license number.
I hope you know that Amazon won't even use you until your MC is AT LEAST 6 months old. So even if you get insurance, you're not working for Amazon.
I am probably wrong here. But some part of me wonders, if the insurance companies are trying to make up losses from customers that bailed. That would be very short sighted and will take things worse. But if you can keep that stock price up a little longer..
