CSA scores are another really stupid thing the companies have gotten into. Like DAC reports. They encourage companies to report the most simple things as big deals. They actually take a scratch on a trailer and make a federal case out of it. What is so stupid is that everytime a company reports little day to day stuff, they drive their scores down and their cost up. No company should report anything unless they have to. But stupid people run safety committees. They believe they are doing God's work. Liberals.

Anyway, don't worry about things you have no control over. You can't change the past you can only deal with it.

Get busy with the online application I mentioned earlier! You're going to be employed soon.

Actually it was the comservatives that came up with the CSA. Nice try though. But more importantly, it's not stupid. It works and for the most part, works well. There are problems, but they are being addressed. CSA will help clean this industry up. There is no hiding anymore. If you're a bad driver, then you'll have a high CSA score and have a hard time getting hired. If you're a good driver, you are a hot commodity to companies. It will take the garbage out so to speak. The FMCSA have shut down more bad carriers since CSA was implemented than they have before. It's either get right or get out. There are more professional drivers than not that see the benefits of the CSA program. For us that actually are professional, it's a blessing. If you don't know why, than work harder at becoming a safe professional driver.

I am pretty ambivalent about it, but so far everyone except my saftey manager says don't report any accidents unless you are caught red handed. Not terribly ethical, but common practice it seems.

Best way around it is don't get into an accident. Always seemed to work for me.

Heres the letter from Allen Smith, which he's a real nice guy, and I know he was trying to be helpful but when I replied, So i am advised not to go for a CDL or even attempt to apply for jobs he replied:

here was a letter from Allen smith of truthabouttrucking.com.. I mean he was trying to be helpful, but again, he stressed the CSA standards:
That decision would have to be yours, but even if you had a perfect
record, it is very difficult to come right out of CDL school and land a
local job. Insurance and carriers, on average, require a minimum of 1 year
driving experience and that experience is gained by usually running OTR
with a long haul carrier after CDL training.

Local jobs like construction, etc., driving a rock, dirt, sand truck,
etc., is sometimes possible, but this isn't OTR but they are still
    classified as Class A CMV's.

It is possible that you could spend the $$$ for a CDL license and it may
end up being totally useless due to the CSA standards. I would hate to see
you do that, but the decision is ultimately yours.

    I do wish you luck,

    Allen

its a letter of gloom and doom, but hopefully, for me, things will work out

At the risk of calling out Smith, he doesn't know what the he** he's talking about with CSA standards if you've provided us the same information you provided him.
