Just wait Paw... You'll be sitting there eating dinner get your Text.. get done and get back to the truck just to find out the Pre Plan was taken away... HAHAHA... That's Always Fun..
i am not looking to cook the log. i'm just asking if i get a load with a good 910 mile run on the interstates (i know i am only allowed to drive 11hrs in an 14 hr work day) i could drive off close to 680 miles of it in 11hrs if i could run at 65mph most if the time (65 X 11= 715 X 95% = 680) that would mean i avg a speed of 61.8 for that 11hrs now if swift says not to log more than 60mph i would have to plan my drive with that in mind (say take a 15min break somwhere ) which would slow me down to below 660 miles for that 11hr drive do you see why i ask now, its not to cook the log it's just to keep my nose clean per say so a plug in inverter is ok? still what is the max speed of the truck becuase if its only a mile or two above tha max avg log speed (if it is 60mph like what big kid said ) it would be hard to max the log out
hey thanks i think i seen one of those lucky trucks as you put it blow my doors off while i was ridding down 55 here in AR a few days back (i was going 75mph and a white volvo swift truck passed me ) do you think he logs it at 70mph
If he was doing more than 71 mph, he may not have a job for long. The qualcom will send a report to safety and you can lose your job for "excessive speed" (I'm not sure if the same holds true for owner operators) you can have small invertors that plug in, but as was said earlier, no hard wired ones.
Questions for the group. Does Swift pay on practical miles or short miles? Apu's or no Apu's on their trucks? I know they have a sliding scale for paid miles, what is the average length of haul? Are you doing a lot of short hauls or is it a good mix? Thanks to all.
If not mistaken Pay is based on practical miles... There are no APU's on the trucks. The runs are kinda a perfect mix. IF you run a few short hauls, they'll usually back it up with a good run. Just don't be one of those drivers that turn down loads just because it's a short run. If you do, you'll be hanging out with the other drivers at these terminals complaining about not getting loads and/or how your pay check sucks.
i want to ask some more how often are ya layovered somewhere with out a load do you get layover pay what is it if your truck breaks down do you get paid (do you really get paid) how much what does your pay check look like (you dont have to say my last check was $782 gross just say less than $800 gross would do fine)
Psycho, Thanks for the info. I am assuming you drive for them. Any word on the time it is taking drivers to get connected with a mentor after orientation? Fair company, in your opinion? Thanks again.
Got lucky. It was a lease operator who upgraded and they want me to run out the miles on it. It has over 650K and is real nice. If they would make me a deal, since I want to go O/O with my own truck, I wouldn't mind buying it off them.
