Schneider does the Bait & Switch for new tanker drivers. "You're approved for tankers, but you have to pull dry van for 6 mos. first."MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
There's a guy I've been watching on YouTube working for Schneider out of their San Bernardino hub working regional. He hasn't said how much he's making, unless I missed it, but when I hear some of his stories of their screw-ups, and how Schneider is telling him they are working on fixing and streamlining things. That's exactly what they told me when I was working for them 3 or 4 years ago. I got sent to a location once where the customer had moved to a new location 5 years prior. This was a regular customer of theirs (but my first time going there). How the hell can you have a customer that moved 5 years prior and you still haven't updated the address info? I know a lot of companies want to work you for as long as possible for as little as possible, but they really take the cake.
I'm at JBH right now. I think of leaving from time to time because I think sometimes the grass might be greener somewhere else, but the grass was definitely greener here at JBH vs the big rotten orange. I'm grossing 16-1800/week here working 40 to 50 hours/week at a pretty chill, local, dedicated account. The worst week I had was like 1300, and that was a while ago. I think my best week at Schnieder might have been 1200, and this was during the pandemic when these mega carriers were making money hand over fist. Considering the economy, I think I'm doing OK here. I think I might be stupid trying to leave here unless I can get in somewhere like Old Dominion. I've read in several places they pay pretty well, but I think I might sit tight until after the elections to see how the economy goes.
Getting back to Big Orange, I really had it in for my DTL for a while. I felt like he was the reason for my crappy dispatches and pay until I learned all dispatch comes directly from Green Bay (supposedly). Anyway, the guy that trained me told me that he saw him once at a Costco working the exit door checking people's receipts. Nothing wrong with that, work is work and you do what you have to do. I only mention it because if they are paying the drivers like crap, they must be paying the DTL's over there even worse. I'm really shocked they survive as a company operating that way. You'd think word would geet around and turnover rates would finally catch up to them.Last edited: Aug 10, 2024
