My graduation date from school is fast approaching and I will have to make some decisions pretty soon. I don't want to rush into anything so I thought I'd start now and get some feedback.
I decided to attend school on my own so I don't owe anybody anything when I start out. I feel I will be able to make a better choice without being tied to any one company.
I am currently looking into: KLLM, JBS, USA Truck, Roehl and Prime. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I know there are many others out there and these are just a start. Let me know what you think so far.

When I started, KLLM had the highest/quickest tuition reimbursement policy. Final payout at the end of one year, up to a certain amount.

Ultimately it is going to be your call because every company is going to have someone either love it or hate it. Make yourself a list of what those companies have to offer and also make a list as to what your needs or wants from a company are. Find a company that is going to best meet your wants and needs. DO NOT make your decision on some bum's comment about how crappy a company is. It just maybe a perfect company for you.
Take into consideration stuff like insurance, hometime (although hometime is highly embellished by every company) pay rate, miles, what they haul (what kind of trailer) where they run, pet policy, rider policy, lease, etc...
When you have narrowed the field down to a dozen or so companies then you need to call and talk to the companies recruiters to get the fine details. When talking to recruiters keep in mind there is no difference between them and a car salesman. Some things maybe embellished or enhanced to make things a little more attractive. Any promises or deals outside of normal company operation make sure you get in writing. For instance if they tell you they will give you a new truck if you sign up with them. I would get that in writing.
Here are some sites that may help you find some companies.

Thanks for the info. I am also looking into USA Truck and Van Wyk. Don't know much about Van Wyk but what I have seen they look like a pretty good company. I am waiting for a call back from the recruiter now to find a little more out about them.
I understand the part about you have to watch what is told to you. It makes it hard for someone who is new to trucking. I am going to take my time and research and find as much information out as I can. I probably will still be trying to make a decision after I graduate. I realize I can't wait too long or my skills will get stale and it will be harder to find someone who will take me. -
I don't know anything about van wyk but stay away from usa truck
