Fully agree with the DOC. The mechanics need to check the exhaust temp on the inlet vs the outlet. When mine went bad the inlet was hotter than the outlet, opposite of what it should be. The DOC controls the diesel burn and if it burns it all at the inlet side the DPF doesn't get hot enough to burn out the soot.

air-to-air leak will cause it to build up fast and need regens.
You've spent a ton on this problem, seems like you've covered almost everything throwing parts at it.
I don't roll without my OTR plug in regen/code clearing tool. The latest one on my new truck is bluetooth phone app. I would not recommend anyone run an emissions truck without one of these tools to get on down the road when you have a problem.77fib77 and Short Fuse EOD Thank this. -
Maybe even links.
Would be appreciated. I'm interested. -
Is it possible that maybe his logging device is causing glitches?
The Pete I drive had the box pulled out but it still has glitches. Although different then what it had before. -

Compare OTR Diagnostics vs OTR Reset Tool
I have the tool which resets soot gauge, clears codes, and can force a regen. It would be nice to have the ability to monitor data in order to help narrow down where the fault is, but I can't justify paying a subscription for it having only one truck. It seems a lot like BMW charging you per year to use the heated seats in your car. If I was going to get a subscription, I would just get a laptop and PTT, since it has more functions and dealer support.86scotty Thanks this. -
I'll never understand why you spend so much effort and money to keep an unnecessary system functioning on your truck.
Short Fuse EOD, Dave1837 and gerardo1961 Thank this. -
So here are my questions.
I'm guessing the software requires the yearly subscription fee or it becomes inactive?
Can it be used for multiple trucks or is it PER TRUCK? A guy that owns 5 trucks wouldn't have to buy a license for each truck or would he?
Alldata doesn't require a license but you do have to pay for each car. I'm not sure how a repair shop would pay for the service. But that's cars. -
OTR software for me. On my 15 it was a one time purchase, never needed updating.
On my 21 it has gone to purchase plus yearly subscription. I don't remember the price but I'm thinking about 750 for the hardware and maybe 100 or so per year? I think this is worth it the newer truck is since they are big rolling computers now. I can't answer your question about multiple trucks, one is more than enough for me.Siinman Thanks this.
