Wow. It's really easy to get fired for anything with these corporations. Cough, belch, and fart in your cab without saying EXCUSE ME out loud, spraying air freshener, and calling your dispatcher results in getting fired.
Dispatcher found out you bought new sneakers? Yeah, you're fired. Dispatcher discovered that you're intelligent? You're fired. The list goes on.
But in all seriousness, be grateful for leaving those guys. Find someone else and good luck. Another revolving door left behind.
Again.. CRST

I was supposed to go with CRST.. I got out of school and grabbed up two local jobs..I resigned my local gig trying to go OTR CRST was the only company that seemed eager to get me out there.. I talked with a recruiter for one day and they arranged a bus ticket..After talking to other people they advised I should take more time to look for other companies as well.. I tried to get in contact with the recruiter with no luck before the shuttle was supposed to leave..Do you think CRST would still set me up even though it seems I flaked on them?

If CRST won't take you,try PRIME they take anybody!

It seems that any OTR company either wants you directly out of school..or with at minimum of 6 months OTR..Obviously it's insurance reasons etc..The biggest mistake I made was grabbing up that glorious local job right out of school..I haven't heard back from Prime just yet..I had called and they said my application hadn't been processed just yet..I wont discriminate on who I use to get my year or two. ..after all YOUR using them as much as THEY are using you..

Before you make a decision, KNOW THE FACTS.
CRST provides your bus fare to the terminal, but they WILL NOT provide you a way back home if things don't work out for you. Basically, you'll be stranded and expected to get home on your own dollar. So, if you still plan to go to CRST, be sure you have enough for an emergency bus ticket if a situation like that should happen to you. It's not a pleasant feeling to be stranded. I was there, and it's frustrating. And remember, you'll be charged in the future with the price of the bus ticket that CRST purchased to get you there.
CRST promises lodging and may even tell you it's in a motel. That's wrong. More than likely, you'll be staying in a dorm room shared by 2 other people. It's basically a room with 3 beds and that's it. They have a TV in the lounge area but that's it. Rarely, the dorm rooms become over crowded. If that happens, then they start booking people in a motel. But that's last resort. Please know you'll be eventually charged with the lodging fee of $300.
CRST requires you to apply for an IOWA licenses and permit when going to school.
CRST claims that the terminal has good places to eat around the area. That's wrong. It's all mainly fast food. You'll get sick of that quickly. But on the upside, there is a grocery store about 2 blocks away.
CRST promises home time. Don't count on it right away. They expect you to stick out 3 or 4 months with them before they want to send you home. But in all honesty, CRST hasn't kept there end of the bargain on promising home time to experienced or new drivers. They strive to keep you far away from home as possible.
CRST recruiters have been known to log into a forum such as this one, and make false comments just to attract people. Always keep that in mind when you are reading reviews. If it's sound too good to be true, than it probably is. Go with your gut tells you.
~ I don't recommend this company to anyone. They don't care about the drivers. But a company as large as this one, only becomes focused on money. That's CRST's main concern. Remember that. -
And you went there after researching CRST?
As I've posted in several threads in TTR.NEVER take a bus to orientation! Use your own transportation so that when things go south you have your own way home or as you said have the money to get home.
My advice is to have a credit card with enough on it to pay first class air fare and several checked bags!
OR enough to rent a car home! Remember you can't rent a car with cash! Airlines and Homeland Security look very closely at one way tickets and a cash purchase!
That's my lesson for today! Look through the threads and find several ways not to go to orientation and some of these Bottom Feeder driver mills! Like CRST! and the rest of the major trucking firms out there! If there are more than 100 trucks it's going to be a driver mill!zentrucking Thanks this.
