1 All companies pay for you to get their but if It dont work out your on your own getting home. No company is going to pay for you to get home if you quit or get fired!
2 All trucking companies only care about making money. Thats what they do! You get hired to make them money! If you dont your gone! -
Believe it or not these orientation/training issues are pretty common and tame for the industry at large.
Sorry, but a few complaints about not enough food variety, or having to use the bunkhouse because you didn't bring enough money with you ... just seem petty.
Not paying an applicants way home after rejection is common as well.
I'm sure there are plenty of solid reasons why this outfit should be avoided ... just figuring a few minor orientation complaints ... to a blanket indictment of a company - any company, just seems like whining.
No offense, but I don't see anyone with those kinds of expectations making it in this industry. -
This outfit is horrible, but theres a grocery store directly across the street from the terminal and there are a couple of non fast food places to eat nearby...

Common sense is what's needed for new-hires. Consider the expenses the company pays for when hiring people. The cost to get you there, feed you, house you, process you, get your physical etc. So, to cut costs, having you bunk in a dorm with other guys is normal, allthough some companies have you in a hotel room. Just consider it an adventure, and you must be adventuresome to be a truck driver. Too bad so many new-hires are broke when they hire on. I couldn't imagine being 1000 miles from home with 39 cents in my pocket and depending on strangers to feed me and put me up AND pay my way home if need be.
bamanation Thanks this. -
Talked to 2 of their drivers. 6-8 weeks out. They team you with someone from NJ and you are in AL? You sit in the truck while each guy does hometime.
$25 to install a CB you pay the shop. No way around that. Lots of other really crazy things. Was listening to a guy at a Swift terminal that went to Iowa and left after 3 days. he had his CDL yet they wanted him to stay for their school. Called his recruiter every day and asked about all the llies. Recruiter finally told him, "I got my money! You showed up!" -
$25 to install a CB? No way around it? There's a way around it alright. I hooked mine up myself, they never said a word about it. However, $250 to install an inverter, and i was dumb enough to pay them for that...but they took it out $25 a week and i got the inverter for free. Meh.
6 to 8 weeks out? Man, i bet this company's gonna be going to be pulling an arrow in a couple of years. Really sounds like its starting to go downhill. They also have quite a few trucks on the road with numbers that have "666" in them. It's almost like its not a coincidence. We were expected to stay out 3 weeks.. -
I used to drive for crst, stay away from them that's all.
