    How much drivers normally expected to pay for a refresher course?

    I wouldn't mind going through a refresher course, wouldn't be the end of the world, just another hoop to jump through in today's world. It bothers me, that at 59, with 35+ years of trucking, and 2.5 million accident free miles doesn't mean diddly now, and if some recruiter didn't want to hire me, I'd probably get defensive, and say something like, "I was trucking when you were in diapers", but it wouldn't matter, rules are rules, which is why, I'd have to be pretty desperate to get in a truck again, so close to retirement. I think if you actually went in and talked to a person face to face, and explained your situation, they'd be stupid not to hire you, and if they didn't, their loss.

    @bigjay35 & WindshieldTime :

    Good chance they all will hire you; expecially Western Express.

    Also try Paschall Truck Lines. Submit the online applications to all of them before any phone calls. Wait 3 or 4 days before phone calls.

    Around $3000 LCTI (Sage) in my neck of the woods for a 40 hour refresher. I may take one just for my own benefit, besides most carriers I believe will reimburse you over time. Especially if they require it.

    WindshieldTime Thanks this.

    WHAT???? $3,000 dollars? I thought it was free. They can cram it with walnuts. No wonder these companies can't find drivers. They should pay ME $3,000 to drive for them.:biggrin_25513: Sure they'll reimburse you over time, in the form of low wages. That's terrible.

    Yes it is high, considering I already gave them $5200 two years ago...LOL ....It should be free!
    LCTI (Sage) is the driving school I originally went through to get my CDL. They are not a carrier but just a community college.
