If you have a cdl you do not need a cdl school again....many companies will accept you as a trainee and have you ride with a trainer for a few weeks... all this for free and you will be paid trainee pay

In the end, which ever company you're hired by will talk you in and out your plans.. no need for anyone to do it here

Not sure where you live but Maverick only requires you have a valid cdl. No refresher needed. I got my cdl 2 1/2 years ago and was hired last month by Maverick. It's a great company. If in their hiring area I would definitely check it out.

    True that.

In my case I got back into driving early last year, had to regain my CDL after letting it lapse. I was fortunate to have a brother who was an O/O. Using his truck I passed the CDL test, then was approved to hire on with my brother as a codriver (small company) with a fresh CDL and no school. Drove 3 months with him (before figuring out that my brother was making less money with me on the truck with nothing but live loads/unloads).

Swift (and I think Central Refrigerated) accepted 3 months recent OTR in lieu of school. However, they required I do the full training program.

Now with a year and a half I'm looking at options as I play "work up" within Swift. Paying the dues and looking for the next step.
