HMMmmmm...not necessarily.....a man's neck size of 17" and a women's neck size of 16" will be indicators of sleep apnea. so sure, you can be under (or slightly above) 200 pounds, but we cannot change our neck size. i myself am just under 200 lbs, and my neck size is 16" (i just measured it now in fact)......so as you can see, i am close....what if a person lost weight but his/her neck size is at the limit....?? i think an ordered sleep apnea test is in that person's future. my question(s) would be geared up towards body builders. they HAVE large neck sizes, don't they......will a doctor take into consideration the person is a body builder, or still order up a sleep apnea test...???

the best suggestions for us to heed are, EAT right, get some exercise, take care of our health, and stave off the DOT new physical requirements, lest we give our rigs to "Jose` and Juan".....and maybe the occasional "Rosita"........:biggrin_25514:

A high BMI aggravates sleep apnea but is not always the cause of the condition.
I've had it all my adult life since I only weighed 175 lbs and 6' tall.
I'm now a lot heavier than that though not in the 400 lb range and sleep just fine as long as I use my CPAP machine.
Having a high BMI may trigger a mandatory sleep study in the future but it wont necessarily end anyone's career and may well save their life.

Maybe check your blood pressure at Walgreens or something before embarking on your journey. They are usually strict on this. Be sure to not drink coffee or caffeinated sodas before hand. Maybe do a little exercising before you go to help out a little.

Yes plenty of 400+ truck drivers. I see them at the scales. Truck trailer cargo and them weigh 72420. Driver gets out weight goes to 71980. You tell me I think being that heavy would be a limiting factor of a couple loads that I have hauled. I can hear them now sorry I can't pull that one I just ate a whole bucket of chicken. Maybe tomorrow
