Let me re reiterate. An Alberta Class 1 means that you are properly trained to adjust manuals or automatics. Your carry your Class 1 license and that's all you need.

DOT are aware that opur license certifies brake adjustments
AND is also proof of a Medical in good standing. Don't have to carry another piece of paper around.

This is why its important to do your pump downs, I do a pump down everytime I pick up a trailer and never had an out of adjustment issue on my inspections

Pump down is part of your vehicle inspection where you are testing the tractor protection valve and alarms.

US based drivers, if they want to adjust their own auto slacks, need to have a separate certification card. Me? I live just fine without the liability. I can afford to have a brake specialist take care of that for me.

Mamaswift - I will be bringing mine into get fixed too if they need adjusting. The article I was reading made it sound like it was a quick fix for safer driving, but i had no training fixing them.., so was just wondering if this is something I should know prior to getting on board with anyone..

Fixing and adjusting brakes are to different things.
Injun you dont need a ASE card to adjust brakes if you have a Class A CDL.
When I worked for Oakley in the garage I had to take and pass an ASE air brake class to repair them.

    Injun Thanks this.

Keeping your brakes adjusted is your job! Repairing them is for the shops. If you can't/won't adjust your brakes in a CMV please put a florescent stripe on your trailer like the NASCAR rookies so the professional drivers can keep clear of you!

The repetitive moving of the adjusters adjusts the brakes if the slack adjusters are working properly
