Guys, I have a 96 DT466P that has air brakes, I had to replace the motor with a used DT466 that had hydraulic brakes so no air compressor. When I pulled the Power Steering pump the gear on the pump is smaller than the one on the air compressor. My question is, is there just a gear swap on the air compressor to a smaller gear to fit on the other motor or do I have to pull the timing cover and change all the gears to fit the original gear on the air compressor.

I took a quick look, both engines should be the same, it is the accessories that are different. I can't seem to remember any further details about that. Do you have any pictures?

Well the gear on the power steering is smaller than the gear on the air compressor, I am thinking the bull gear needs to be changed only. Interstate in their infinite wisdom could not make the gears the same size

See if it bolts up nicely. I think the power steering should mesh the same. From what I see the rear half of the front cover pieces and the idler gears are the same between the two set ups. I am thinking the power steer pump must be bolted offset slightly so it can run a smaller gear and still mesh properly.

I will try it.
