Just trace the air lines mate, and it will pop up. Most unloader valves are on top of the compressors, so no removal required, well except for a couple of Torx screws that is. Posting the model of compressor the OP has would help garner more accurate answers IMHO. Martin
Tried to upload. It's the air compressor, stock with ISX CM871, with the flat top. I'll have to open my computer maybe it'll let me upload.
I don't think it uses the D2, I am thinking that you need to contact Cummins or at lease get the part number and cross it to a bendix number. I drive a few trucks with the same engine and I've never seen a d2 on any of those, however I know that they replaced on one of them the air dryer unit at one time.
Have you checked the discharge valve on the air dryer? At times it can stick open until heated then suddenly close and the system will then start to Function until the next morning. This condition gets worse as the weather gets colder. There is sometimes a seal kit available depending on what you have.
I hate to sound like a rookie but I know where my air dryer is for my apu, a small black colored cylinder, so imagine I'm looking for something similar then, I see one mounted by the firewall, and something else that's possibly the dryer located inside the rail side by side towards the bottom of the block . I knew that #### governor wasn't it. TA better return it too
The governor is mounted on the air dryer on the newer Petes. My air dryer is mounted underneath between the fuel tanks, but yours could be anywhere. It should look something like this.....
That was the picture I needed SL3406, I was looking in all the wrong places. Looks like mine even has a D-2 on it. I will deliver this load tomorrow first then work on it at home tomorrow. I wonder which one is the discharge valve davidLee? Is that the purge, or where it purges out at?
I will replace the governor in a few when I unload and get to the house. BUT, I got to thinking this morning, when I start the truck up in the morning Air Pressure is right around 60psi. This must mean that I'm losing air somewhere over night. AND when I pushed my brakes in air was leaving at the trailer supply valve handle for about 15 seconds, and is still going very quietly I think. But either way it kept sounding air for about 15 seconds or more when I pressed the brakes in. Can these be replaced and could they have anything to do with what's going here? Thanks in advance.
