Hope you did not end up at a shop I walked through years ago. The guys were discussing a problem. One said " In a case like that I usually replace the compressor, dryer, and expansion valves. That usually works."
What ever was going on did not sound very serious.
Even expansion valves can be tested. This is how we used to do it in#####!!!.Yep just like that. Spray liquid R12 freon on it and watch the gauges.
Now water out of a crushed ice container poured in a spray bottle will usually work.
Yes I am picking at some of you folks. Yes many vehicles would not operate close to correct without component changes. Some could get by with an electric fan.
