Got a n14 cummins in my Pete. After the purge valve opens on the air dryer it keeps leaking air at a slow but steady rate for 10-20 seconds. There is still a small charge of air coming from the governor to the dryer that is making the dryer keep leaking. Since this started I have replaced the air compressor( for other reasons). I have also rebuilt the unloader valve, tried 4 different governors from 2 different places. Replaced both lines coming off the governor. One to the primary air tank and the other goes to the dryer. I have also replaced the cartridge in the dryer and tried 3 different purge valves. I am about bald from scratching my head. Anybody have any ideas??????

Are you saying after the 10-20 seconds of slow air leaking from the bottom of the dryer that air is still leaking after that? Air dryers are supposed to continue to purge at a slow rate for up to 30 secs to regenerate the desiccant inside the cartridge.

Ad9 dryer. After the dryer finishes purging it starts filling the tanks again then purges again over and over. Pressure gauge drops about 5-8 psi when it's done purging. Builds back to 120 psi and does it again

Try a whole new dryer. I hada similar issue on an international with an ISX and an AD9. Replaced the cartridge and the purge valve as well as the compressor and governor. Would up replacing the whole air dryer and the problem went away. I believe you can buy a reman bendix ad9 for a little bit more than the price of a cartridge kit.

I agree with BigCam...been through this on a few of ours. Replaced, cleaned, rebuilt everything....just like you. Put a new dryer on it and solved all issues. Makes NO sense...but works everytime. Crowburlinggame (bumper to bumper) stores can get them and are WAY cheaper than a dealer (Kenworth for us).

New dryer.... my old AD9 did this on my S60. I found the check-ball inside was bad and sticking. Replaced the whole assembly and it stopped it.

Do you have gauges for Primary tank and secondary tank???? If so, which one is leaking down??

Primary tank leaks down. Just replaced the line to the dryer so I know it's not that. Replacing the whole dryer is a last option. Got a new check valve coming. I believe it's the reason why changing out the whole dryer would fix it. I will report back after I get the check valve replaced Saturday. Thanks for the ideas

I was just going to replace my check-vale as well, but the Pete dealer had an AD9 dryer sitting on the shelf on sale for $99 so i went that route. I believe changing out the check-valve will fix it.
