Thanks for the thread everyone. I’m getting ready to set mine now.It got out of wack after changing rear airbags and using dump valve to lower and raise frame to get bags out. I may have screwed up arm or valve. However 2”5/8 is the spec I’ve always used I did however go by the front right axle location. Seems I got bad info from more than 1 dealer mechanic. Glad I checked here thanks for the manual info. Here’s a thought I once set it at 2”3/4 since I have a 285” wheelbase
With drive angle in mind seemed to work well, except in a steep dock wheels would sometimes spin while pulling out of dock causing need to lock in power devider and also would get stuck easily in a hole in bad parking lots etc.I didn’t care much for that although it seemed to “stand up to bumpy roads better it seems the best riding trucks such as Volvo for instance have big soft airbags which have the ability to move a lot and only a problem if shocks are wore out.So with that said I’ll play Mr Obvious and say shocks play a huge role in modern (1980s) and up air rides.Asuming my theory the Kenworth 8bag system is terrible yet I’ve heard a lot of praise for it. Although the have a big problem with bushings I’ve been told.Having said all that reminds me spring bushings play a big role replaced mine with ATRO brand poly anti walk bushings same price as original equip.2001 classic will update if I find a problem with air valve or arm etc. My advice when changing air bags jack up frame or block it up or something don’t use air to raise and lower like I did

Isn't 47.5 pretty much tops to be legal with a 13'6.

my word everyone is missing drive shaft angles that must be kept. There are slim's under the axle hangers that the U bolt go to that have degree's like 1% 2% a friend of mine dropped is height 3 inches to haul van's he called Peterbilt and they told him to put in 3% slim's in it worked fine. You got to kept the yokes and driveshaft at the right angle's or you will have problems. You can raise it back up you have to fine the right slim to put under the axle to have the driver shafts at the right angle.
