You will get oil running out when you remove that cover. You will need to drain the transmission to reverse that cover. As I recall there is a shaft, a fork, a spring and some sort of piston to move the fork on the shaft. Google Muncie pto install instructions. You should find the info that will help you.

I've never heard of that. I think it's plumbed backwards. I remember having to wait for air to ENGAGE the pto, never t'other way 'round.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
I just looked at a new pto I have in storage. The air inlet is on the correct end of the shifter. Somehow somebody has gotten the shift action reversed. In the morning I can remove mine from the pto and tell you what it should look like or I will just need to learn how to put up pictures. It sits in a box, brand new and shiney so it won't be a problem to disassemble. I do know that the fork itself can be reversed (not good) because I recall that pointer in the directions 20+ years ago.

Thanks for the help. I'll get a parts breakdown from Muncie before I get too carried away, so don't go to any bother disassembling yours. It is working fine, so if we ever get slowed down this winter I'll do it then. Dang though, I just put new tranny fluid in it when I bought it in June.snowman_w900, SAR and bigguns Thank this.
