Does anyone work for airgas? A recruiter has called me and told me what the pay was and days in going to be working. I just would like to know how are their benefits and does it take long to get where you get runs being at home most days, I applied for the otr position in which I'm willing to wait for

Around here they are Union, and pay $21.89 an hour to start, with AWESOME benefits. Delivering oxygen tanks to hospitals and care centers, and argon to welding shops, etc...
Positions don't come up often because positions don't open often.
I applied for a spot 2 years ago, and with over 20 years experience and a clean MVR...I was beat out by someone with even more experience.
When a spot opens up, they get a stack of applications (in my area any way) to pick and choose from...so I'd say if you can get on....get on.

Want do you mean by weak union? Usually weak union means that you guys are a divided shop. It's the membership that votes on the contract and 51% wins. Being acquired by Air Liquide we have not lost any of our benefits. In fact we will be getting 2% wage increase for the next couple of years. Go Teamsters.

Not all branches are union. I don't know what benfica is talking about but I make good money working for Airgas.

Airgas , the barn I was out of is not teamsters , they are usw, the votes were only given to the top 10 percent of the seniority .... that's not a union , it's a division . And yes I still have my withdrawal card with local 407 , I was a steward for 5 years , I know a good union when I see one all by the rep .

Unions are becoming a thing of the past , it's sad but it's a true fact , look at central states .... it's sad . The companies now have the upper hand all they gotta do is strike a pen to paper and the unions will be outside while the scabs are inside . All it takes is a rep who negotiates with the company because he's looking for more members to add on to a shop , that opens a loophole for the company to cut OT and lots of other things .
As for me , I bought my own truck , I go out and get my freight no one gives me nothing , I make or break my dollar , but I have true respect for the teamsters because many in my family are retired teamsters and I will never cross a Pickett ever .

How does Ruan treat its drivers? I am looking for consistency, or is this unheard of in the trucking industry?
