Airline Miles

It's been a weird kinda night on TTR.

 

I'm going to start asking for nautical mileage rates when I talk to recruiters.

 

Are you talking about the company paying you by the miles as the crow flies versus miles that you've actually driven?

 

Practical miles and Household Movers Guide (HMG) have their own formula but essentially figure about 10% less than you can drive the miles. I think Practical Miles is zipcode to zipcode. Hub Miles is paying the driver the miles he drives. Few companies pay those anymore.

 

I prefer railroad track miles.
Back on topic:
"Practical miles" is the shortest distance between Point A to Point B that a truck can travel.
"Actual Miles" is the same as "Hub Miles." Take a hub reading when you leave and another hub reading when you get there. Some companies pay that way, but I don't have a list. I do know some tanker companies pay that way as a benefit.

so what would it be called if a company paid airline miles with airline miles?

 

That would probably result in a hostage situation.

 

I had a good laugh at the OP. Brings back memories of trying to book a load from Denver to OKC. Let's just say the rate was LOW (it's Denver, okay?).

The woman covering the night shift at the brokerage said it was 500 miles from Denver to OKC.

I asked if this was air freight or did they want this shipped by truck.

 

Walmart and Poly are still on Hub as well, only large carriers that I know of.

According to local advertisements Averitt is offering hub miles on certain dedicated accounts, but they don't mention which ones.
