We've had some of the megas drop trailers in our yard for re-power or storage. We charge a daily rate for that.
Occasionally they have us take the trailers to their nearest yard or a customer.
We charge them hub miles out and back and you should hear their office people scream when they find out what it's going to cost them.
A couple of them have threatened not to use us anymore. We tell 'em that's fine, it's not a big part of our business anyway.
LOL...one of the megas had a trailer in our yard for almost 3 months. We finally called them and asked if it needed delivered or moved. They claimed it wasn't there. Their records showed it as sitting in Alabama. We're in California.
Another month goes by and we called them again. This time they had the trailer located in North Dakota. We're still in California. I finally had one of the guys take pictures of the trailer and the license plate and emailed them to the mega. Guess what?
They realized that the trailer was, indeed, in our yard and paid us to haul it to Portland. It had a load of dog food. The customer turned it down as being "too long in transit" and we hauled it to a landfill in Eugene. We dropped the trailer there and the driver bobtailed back.
We charged hub miles for the whole adventure. They screamed...but they paid.
