AL folks - Saw 2 black Tahoes on the interstate, hidden blue lights marked with only what looked to be a shield on the sides. Who are they - Revenue Enforcement?
Also, the Tahoes (get nervous whenever I see one now!) you see from Hoover PD, much of the time at the median cross-over at the 78/Leeds exit, are they regular cops or truck enforcement? And they aren't always in Hoover!

I've seen them in the past, not sure if Tahoes or not, but dark like that on 59 past Tuscaloosa. Those did write speeding tickets; I think they are regular cops.
Just don't do anything wrong and they shouldn't bother you I imagine. -
Lot's of LEOS are running the Tahoe, even city cops from large cites to small towns are using them as well as some Sheriff's departments

d.o.t. boy's. plus local. there are a few that park together at leeds & moody area. see them every day.

Watch your speed on the 4 lanes with 55mph and 65mph zones. Alabama drivers act as if 15-20 over is a birthright and those cops love writing tickets from speed traps on 4 lane hwys. Always see the same cops in the same spots...

Let me tell you about them Hoover boys, they are some sapp suckers. I have never been pulled over by them, but I live about 30 miles away from Hoover, so I know very well what they are capable of. Watch out when you go through Hoover or anywhere around Hoover. They will pull big trucks over, they can do inspections. Now over there where you are talking about that isnt Hoover, but I know where you are talking about, they sit in the median by the concrete barrier. They sit there all the time, but most of the time they dont mess with big truck out in that area it is mainly speeders. In fact I can only recall of one time seeing one of those suv guys out in Leeds having a truck pulled over. However, I dont go through there a whole bunch. Just dont go by there speeding and definately dont go by there with something obvious the matter and you will be okay. But like I said in and around Hoover watch your speed becasue unless something has changed they still can do inspections on trucks. I used to be a local driver around here (7 years ago) and everytime I would go through Hoover they would always have a truck pulled. They seemed to have calmed down a little bit on enforcement against big rigs. I might add most of the trucks they pull over are your local day cabs but I have SEEN them pull some OTR guys before! Hope this helps.
Just as a side note Alabama D.O.T. enforcement has picked up a little bit. Ever since they started all this repaving and lowered the speed limit to 55 mph. So just keep an eye out in general! -
I recall years ago, not so long after I went out on my own, some LE car in AL pulled me over on I-20 , I didn't know why; he wanted to see my registration and asked me to open the door so he could check the VIN against the paperwork and I think he eyeballed my fuel sticker (may have been card at that time) and said they did this since AL didn't have a port-of-entry. His Crown Vic had a seal-sort of design on it that said 'Revenue Enforcement' that I saw a few times after that. That is what made me wonder if that was what these Tahoes were.
And yes, I know AL has stepped-up enforcement by a great deal in the last few years, as has my now-home state of GA. Takes a little of the fun out of it, but I also know it helps to level the playing field as well. But most of them are really decent to you if you are with them.
And yes, lots of agencies have Tahoes as their running equipment now, espcially the LEO's who have K9's with them. Saw an AL Hwy Patrol Javelin once, lots of Mustangs in years gone by, but would like to have seen Catoosa Co. GA SO's Trans Ams out on the road back in the late '70's just for the fun of it!
Maybe should have mentioned these 2 were in the Irondale area on I-20 and on Saturday; just didn't really look like 'regular' police vehicles. Just curious, but not enough to stop and ask 'em!Last edited: Feb 3, 2013

I dont think I have seen these 2 vehicles you are speaking of, but I do know that there is bears sitting in the median at hwy 78. DOnt know if they are the same ones you are talking about or not.
