That would depend on where you start from, where you are going, what time of year it is, what the freight is, who is paying you and what it cost you to run your truck.
Some areas on your route are remote, to say the least. You have to figure in the cost of a break down. Fuel is more expensive and harder to find, especially, during the Winter months. You cannot count on a load coming back, so either you bounce empty or you sit and wait. Then you have additional permits and licenses to buy. That number would be different for all of us. A general rule I go by, is $8K to $10K from the NW states and $15K and higher from the Southern states. I would sit and wait for a load. Loads on the return trip pay much, much less. The next time I go, I need to try to make some direct connections with brokers or shippers that have freight coming out.

Just before Christmas and I would have had to run through, both Christmas and New Year, was a light load out of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for $17K. Negotiations hadn't started yet! In my current set up, I can't load 48,000 lbs. Not in the US and, especially, not in Canada. I have heard of these high paying loads, I have never met anyone who has taken one though. What company offered you that much? I mention to all brokers that I like to go to Alaska, hopefully, one will call me before posting it someday. I'm looking for a lighter flatbed so I can scale the weight! Recently, there were daily loads out of Prudhoe Bay back to Houston at 48,000 lbs.

SHC I know the loads your talking about. I saw what they paid and well lets say I would take 4 or 5 a year. Great paying stuff!
