    jtrnr,

    I am guilty too.

that is exactly why I will, from now on, try my best of my ability to not reply to anything unless an opinion is sought and I will then try to offer ONLY an opinion.

There are still some here that would accuse one of being wrong based on an opinion of something. Oh well, so is life.

And starting next week, I will hopefully be too dang busy for more than an occassional "just checking in". Dang it, will November 9th EVER get here?!?!

Admittedly, I am afflicted with the inability to "just let them believe what they will believe". After 15 years in the tax business and having clients tell me what they KNOW to be true based on the fact that their neighbor did it or they overheard that it could be done while standing in line at the water cooler at their work.

Devoid of morality and virtue, there isn't anything one can't do provided they don't get caught. And don't take not getting caught as permission to do something. I am surprised at how many people believe and live their lives that way.

So, I am learning that trucking is no different than any other aspect of life in which there are rules, few really know them, and that most have learned the "real rules of the big road" during truck stop conversations without regard to what the law actually states.

"heck yeah!!!! Don't pay any attention to that sign...Heck, I drove in the left lane of I-75 for 300 miles...I never got a ticket."

Oh well, my first rookie mistake. Hey, one day I'll be a "real pro" like them too.:biggrin_25512:

Just want to clarify something here as there are many people that get totally confused about this. Ok cdl holders.....you can be busted for under the influence at like a .02 or .04 (something like this) while you are operating your CMV....However a lot of people are under the misconception that if you get pulled over in your personal vehicle on off time that you can get a dui for .04. This is not true! Just want to clarify that.

Yes it is true. And that is a federal law.

We are held to a higher standard. .04

I checked on this and so did gashauler.

In your private car you are held to the same level as a normal license.

In a CMV, you are held to the reduced level.

I can tell you for a fact in PA, if you get pulled for a DUI with a CDL they will use .04 as the limit.

Other states, maybe not......................I was under the impression that it was a federal law.

Where did you find that? AFAIK Tennessee holds you to .04.

Irregardless I have stopped even having one drink now when I am out. Over zealous DUI enforcement is too profitable for the municpalities.

    :yes2557:

I worked with a non drinking guy in Florida who got arrested after passing the balloon test, and the agility test. He was a designated driver the guy riding with him was snockered. Then had the blood test at the jail. Passed everything! Still had to take alcohol and drug classes!

Could you imagine applying for a job with that on your record?! I would have sued the cop and the sheriffs department.
