Thanks for the concern about my dad. My little brother is a quadrapalegic now for the past 3 years directly caused by his same pattern my dad followed. That last statement you made there was repeated by little bro as well. Please for your own health at the very least find another way to unwind

Sorry but just because I drink a few every now and then doesn't mean I'm going to stop drinking. You could show me people who've lost limbs or died from drinking, it's not going to change my mind. My grandmother died from lung cancer, my dad quit smoking for a day or two then Was back at it.

I understand alcohol has played a negative role in your life and the lives of your loved ones, but please, don't preach or try to tell me I shouldn't drink. It's just a way if life for some. I don't go around begging for change to get a can of beer. I work hard for my money so I can play hard when I get home.

I don't see alcohol as bad substance to use when used in control. I don't drink every day like I did in high school. Not everyone is effected the same by alcohol. So saying I drink and this is what's going to happen doesn't hold any truth.

If you interpret my story as preaching, then I am sorry. I just wanted to share my experience with you or anyone who cares to take it into consideration. Just wanted to give another point of view since all I can determine from your posts is that you may potentially have an addictive personality. I never said it was going to happen you at any point nor implied it. Things you have said just make me think of all the times I have heard that stuff before.

I understand, I just don't take well to being told something's going to happen to me since it happened to someone else. If that's not what you meant then I apologize for misinterpreting it.

I was told addiction runs in our blood line, I've seen it many times. About 90% of my relatives smoke, I tried it back in high school, never cared for it. I chewed tobacco for a year or so then quit cold turkey. I still get the urges, I've got a pack of red man golden blend in my truck now, unopened from a few days ago when I bought some. I've been thinking about chewing again as I miss it, though I haven't taken to it yet.

The same can be said for any substance, to include tobacco. Alcohol may not give you lung cancer, but it is prone to give you kidney issues.

I understand that. My Doc told me if I insist in drinking as much as I do, just don't do it every weekend or every day. I told him I only drink a ton when I get home for the first day or two I don't even leave the house. He told me to be careful, though I'm not drinking a 24 pack in one sitting, I will down 12-18 throughout a 12-16 hour period while drinking water in between to try to fight off having a hangover the next day.

also what people don't realize is,if you are in that truck, under control of a load, you really can't drink.if the keys are in the cab,you can be busted.if something goes wrong in the middle of the night, even though your off duty, your still in charge of your truck, and your load.

Why shouldn't they sell beer? A lot of locals buy beer at the truckstop on the way home. And besides, drivers are supposed to be adult professionals. Just cause they sell it, doesn't mean you have to buy or drink it. And truck stop owners aren't responsible for keeping me sober on the road. I am responsible for that.
