Not sure if its my radio or not but seems this trip out(sence fri b4 this thread post)that the natural white noise/static is almost zero.....I seem to hear other radios n such but unless im goin over a bridge or near power wires or plug in my phone/gps to charge i dont hear squat for static..Most but not all 40 are the same..Tons on fm though..
Ill have to switch radios when i get home in a few days and see if its the radio or not..

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

My first thought would be to check your antenna system with your antenna analyzer, if you haven’t done that already.

I have..almost perfect resonance on 19..My res # on 1 and 40 is about 6 either way..My resistance is 60ish ohms but i cant do much for that on a cascadia..Swr is 1.2 or below all across the 40...

Its odd it seems like im out in the middle of the dessert with no electrical interference at all...Well its barely noticeable till i go over a bridge, cars passing me or near power wires.....
Seems like i shut dowm my radio last week when i got home and all was normal and this week its super quiet..
Not sure if its on my end or other radios but range seem to be shorter...

Changed my coax and same..Ill bave to play when home...I can try another radio and other antenna..

That sounds normal for me. On a wet day I hear no static and driving through the desert I hear a little on a hot summer day.

Rabbi makes a good point, if it’s foggy or damp out it will be quieter. If your resistance is 60 ohms, then 1.2 for SWR is spot on. Your reactance is a little high, it would be interesting to know how much reflected power you’re antenna system has. Unfortunately there’s probably not much you can do about that, due to the type of vehicle you’re working with.

I got a power meter commin from mfj with reflected power built in...A small digital one..mfj 868 i think..
Its been dry weather all this week....Seems to me i always had more static though..
Yeah with resonance being roughly 5-6 on 1 and 40 but 1 or 2 on 19...ill take a cpl pics of my aa30 screen just to show ya..
