Even a guess how much more a Stainless steel Super B set of fuel trailers weighs, compared to aluminum?

I believe a given quantity of stainless is about three times as heavy as the same quantity of aluminum.
Also, I know that stainless steel is significantly more expensive than aluminum. So unless you're hauling something like DEF that requires a SS trailer and fittings, the aluminum trailer may well be less expensive to purchase in addition to weighing less.98989, Crude Truckin' and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
It will only haul diesel and gas.

Aluminum is about one third of the weight of stainless steel. So, are you looking at the Tare Weight of the trailers?

If the trailers are going to be hauling only refined petro products I don't see any advantage to stainless steel. Am I missing something here?
Aluminum trailers, properly loaded and properly maintained, will last a long time. The weight savings over stainless converts to more payload each and every day. That adds up.tscottme, mustang190, 98989 and 3 others Thank this. -
Yes.
Shopping for used B train trailers, seems hard to find tare weights. -
I would rather have aluminum. -
I’d go stainless. It doesn’t corrode and degrade like aluminum does. I hauled a lot of Sulphur and I can’t imagine using aluminum.
Rubber duck kw Thanks this. -
Hauling fuel and gas? Aluminum. I've never seen anyone haul with stainless. Would be prohibitively expensive upfront and fuel is like anything else, payload is $$$$$$
mustang190, Pamela1990 and Phantom Trucker Thank this. -
We haven't had any corrosion problems on our other aluminum fuel trailers, so aluminum doesn't worry me.
Too heavy trailers worries me, as it cuts down on how many liters we can carry.Crude Truckin' Thanks this.
