Thats how I'm looking at it but the lack of definitive answers makes me a bit uneasy. Considering I was hired by the "Ceo" and was hired before the manager that is now over me who also won't really answer questions is odd.
Am i being too easy going?

Are you working for an independent contractor?
-
They are saying I'm hired but my truck isn't ready and I still would like more info so the work hasn't really started haha. But they are a contractor for fedex and I would be a w-2 employee yesbryan21384 Thanks this.

My moms husband did this when he 1st started in trucking after retiring from excavation work. He ran for a co doing drop and hook Fedex freight from central IL to Chicago and back every night.

This would be multiple short trips a night with 2 pups but no docks just drop and hook

If they have a dedicated run or runs already then that means they’ve accumulated points in the Ground system to be able to bid on them or bought out a contractor someplace else to get the points to bid on dedicated runs. You will be w-2 with benefits and if the base pay is something you’re happy with then I say give it a go but keep on them about the rest of your pay, especially if you’re building and breaking sets a couple times per shift. Could be they’re speaking to other contractors to figure out what the average pay is for that kind of stuff, doesn’t necessarily mean they’re trying to screw you out of it.
bryan21384 and GettingRolling Thank this. -
They've been doing the same thing with fedex in Canada for 35ish years which is why it bugs me they are so scattered. I would be breaking and hooking doubles pretty often which is why I want the answers to accessory pay. Would bump the pay quite a bit -
I’d just keep on them about it then, maybe reach out to some other contractors and see what they pay. Or search on this forum and see if you can come up with anything for Ground information.GettingRolling Thanks this.

I think they will come up with answers quickly once that truck is ready. For some reason we are the only approved contractor at that fedex terminal so the trailers gotta moveLong FLD Thanks this.

Just remember, if they don't know how to pay, they might not know they need to pay. Fyi

That answer right there says they are doing it wrong in Canada . So most likely a lowball company. Driver inc 1099 etc
