You probably right but on the other hand today on I 80 in NE i passed whole bunch of them.Actually only one truck was faster than me.what am saying is ,aren't they governed @62-65 mph?
Yeah i know 48 cpm is nothing to write home about as i used to drive for 55cpm plus $25 every stop at different east european outfit from Chicago but lately none of them want to pay more than 50 cpm.

Yea, what Chinatown said. 48cpm isn't bad at all! That's good solid mullah and it sounds like you're hustling.

48¢ + $50 a drop? And only 18 months experience? Plus a incident on your record.
Are you young? If so, stay there. Might not find anyone else to hire you just yet. Most want 2 years that pay better.
And a lot of company trucks are governed between 62-67mph.
Sounds like you run. Make sure you save money! You'll be happy later!

Like everyone else said, the 48 cpm plus $50 per extra stop is not bad but the 1099 set up is very bad! If you make around 60k this year you will owe many thousands of dollars in taxes next April. If you are going to continue driving for this company please do yourself a huge favor and set aside at least 25% of your pay just for taxes.

If you have a family too support definitely find work with benefits. One thing left out, social security and Medicare benefits. Assuming you have gained citizenship you will need those two items later in life. I wish you well in your travels.

P.s. tell us you don't wear a track suit and flip flops. :)

As everyone said that pay would be good if it was w2 with a full benefits package, but on a 1099 it's barely better than a Swift or CR England company driver.

Btw nobody said there's anything wrong with being foreign or an immigrant, just a lot of recent immigrants are not aware of the value of their labor and get taken advantage of by these shady companies which drive down pay for everybody.

Idk how your citizenship situation is but try to get your hazmat and all endorsements. Eighteen months is plenty of experience and most reputable companies will hire you when they need help, especially in the Chicago area.

A friend of mine works for McMahon transport hauling fuel locally out of Lockport,IL at night and is in the mid $20's with a full benefit package. I would definitely explore my options if I was , but make sure you stay clean and strike when a good opportunity comes along.

Yup.i am paper logs but today i made 737 honest miles.from Northlake IL to North Platte NE.got to FJ in Platte 7 minutes before end of my 11h.Also the trailer is always preloaded at my home terminal and there is fuel and scale too.so basically i just hook up and weigh and i am on my way what i think is a plus.

Often people in your situation forgat about taxes. Not only to calculate them in to the bottom line, but to pay them at all. Looks sweet untill IRS calls. I'm not judging, I'm in the same boat. Had to create my own payroll and pay myself, so I pay both employer and employee taxes and still have no benefits. It's a deal. But for the employer, not the driver. I'm currently looking to move to a company which pays on a W-2 basis. So to answer your question, I think you are not underpaid, but it's not any good either in a long run.

One simple question for your answer:

    Are you a trucker?

    Nuff said.
