There’s another side to that coin though.

For example, I’ve been at this for 17, and even I get 40 year guys asking me questions you’d think most people would be asking them.

Experience certainly makes one old, but not necessarily always smart.

after 43 years of Trucking, same old thing over and over, you get to be real good at it. I have been in LTL all my life, and there is nothing I don't know about it. A lot of these new drivers, are not even 43 years old. I'm helping a friend that is now in LTL trucking, his first day out solo, they called it. I gave him a short list of what to do while driving his run. normally I would not do this, because of the attitude new drivers have, and they don't have a clue what trucking is. Experience only makes you old when you have almost 50 years trucking, and after that many years, I believe your smart enough to know all there is in trucking.

I can remember when I first started driving, had no clue how to back a tractor trailer up, three old fellas standing there looking at me, laughing, smiling, making jokes, then after a few, walk over to them, and say " ####, I cant do it", the one guy says, "You can, get back in the truck, and keep trying". In other words, Practice. took me 6 months in a yard spotting, got real good at it.

the airflow around them is disrupted by the door/window so close, the vortex cannot swirl freely like that of the hood mirrors. so the air "bounces" off the door/window glass causing the door mirrors to dirty quicker.

you would need the air flow to go up and over and under the mirrors, rather then swirl around them.

way back, it was a much less hectic out there. Today, it is much harder to drive a truck. Every day in Chicago and Suburbs, you hear about a truck accident. Truck Drivers today and much more dangerous on the roads. Just listen to the news.

I dend to agree with you and the texting really is getting out of hand ... how dumb can you be to text while you're passing a truck. .. a lot more cars on the road and a lot less common sense

You don’t even need those mirrors. Half the trucks I’ve driven didn’t have them.

If only the stock market was as predictable as a hood mirror thread. What's the highest I've been driving XX years we've reached so far? I didn't read anything past the first post but I know it's here.
