I did run today with no issues. I don't feel it's an issue of me being incompetent or lacking common sense, but appreciate all the constructive input.
TaterWagon#62, x1Heavy, REO6205 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Well when you're considering parking for 3 days because you're missing a hood mirror you're pretty close to incompetent.starmac, 7-UP, Diesel Dave and 4 others Thank this.

Your original post i took as having nothing to do with the 3 day wait. I was thinking you were shocked that we have hood mirrors. I apologize if you think im talking about shutting the truck off for days, because of a mirror.
Im glad you are retired, 45 years is a long time to do this job, one day ill possibly be #####ing because drivers have broken stuff we dont have today. Honestly though, if i ever get to the point that im #####ing about new drivers having stuff i didnt have in my day.... just take me out back then. I do not want to be that old fart living in the past. You see, i try to learn from my past and your past, but i like to live in the present. Hood mirrors, elogs, power steering, ####ing paved roads. Everybody is going to ##### about something. Us youngings though, we get the heat because we asked for the new stuff
DougA Thanks this. -
The way i understood the op, the op probably thought hood mirrors were regulation, and without thinking about it first they ran their mouth asking a stupid question. They probably read somewhere on here about us telling drivers to not run inoperative safety equipment and get it fixed because its your license yadda yadda.
Allegedly what the op failed to do was make sure hood mirrors were or were not part the safety equipment needed on the truck i.e. mirrors, lights, etc. So yes, i do blame them for that lapse of judgement and not checking their green book prior to posting, but to say they are incompetent from the first post..... i dont know how so many of us can do that via internet.wise2727 Thanks this. -
I wonder what some would do if they were missing a sissy post on their truck??

Why not move the driver's side hood mirror to the passenger side of the truck? If you were my driver I'd fire you when you returned to the yard either way.
-
Wow! I wonder if anyone remembers when we had to use string to work the air powered wipers. Now that's a safety issue. But I think I'm more surprised to read about new drivers who actually use mirrors.7-UP, x1Heavy and Call_Me_The_Breeze Thank this.
