Am I crazy??

If you're a Vet, give USPS a shot. The money potential you can make their is absolutely RIDICULOUS.

Vets gets preference over civilian applicants. It's actually on the application process. Practically every position in the Postal Service has the potential to make well over $100k. Our mail handlers make over $100k, and all they do is dock work driving around in a forklift or electric pallet jack all day. Our expeditors make over $100k, and so do our clerks. If you're part of the APWU union, you get paid OT after 8, double time after 10. We have drivers making well over $100k. Some terminals they make over $150k. DOT hours of service doesn't apply to us, so if you wanted to work 100 hours a week, you can, and it's ALL double time, double and half, or even double double pay. Imagine making around $130 an hour. When we had the Anthrax scare years ago, our drivers we're putting in 14-16 hours a day, 7 days a week, and taking home in between 6-7k a week, but that is the exception, not the norm.

If USPS is not what your looking for, try looking into an LTL outfit. Practically all of them hire new students or have a dock to driver program. P&D can be physical at times, but it's not like foodservice though. You use a pallet jack and a lift gate to make deliveries and bump docks as well. Linehaul is the real money maker, were you can potentially make over $100k.

I hate to see Vets struggle, and I hope this gives you some other options to think about.
