Well, not always free and clear. Someone is going to get the hit. Usually the driver.

I had a bulk tanker lose one valve during unloading the resulting problem essentially made sure that the rest of the product cannot ever be unloaded anywhere until that valve is replaced. There is still yelling to this day because they really needed that product and did not get it. They got some. But nothing like what they needed with that whole load. I was given the trailer back in a few days with a new valve on it and sent on my way back to the customer to finish the unload what was left in it. That was the last time I got dispatched there.

Take pictures and video. If there are markings on the pipes etc get them too. (And better hope that the markings match up perfectly with what you are supposed to have on that tanker...)

Chemical tanker is not my flavor. I know enough to stay away from it. With that said there is a facility in Baltimore City downtown that makes Pompeii virgin oil for spagetti etc. I use that to this day because they are particular about how it's handled prior to bottling.

You're good to go then. How are we suppose to know which line goes to which? They tell us, that's why we have the release. You did nothing wrong.

This reminds me of a story. A driver at my previous company did a delivery A wrong customer. Instead of delivering to the customer on the bol, he delivered to another company next door. He verified he was at the correct place and they told him he was. They hooked up everything and unloaded the tank and signed off on the bol. About an hour later the shipper called the trucking company asking when they were going to deliver the load. It was a huge mess and it completely contaminated the wrong customers tanks. But at the end of the day, they signed the all the paperwork, so it was on them.
