Imo that pay on a 1099 is really low considering you will have to put about 30% of each check away for taxes and contractors have little right compared to employees

    Because you shouldn't be on a 1099.

The boss thinks I have the deal of the century of course.....would I be better off with Groendyke or HT? The trucks are kinda junky.......and that bothers me.

You don't want a 1099 job...the intent of this setup is for your boss to benefit...not YOU. There are plenty of companies that are more balanced.

I don't understand how they are taking 28% out for taxes, when you are on a 1099.
Something isn't right. If you were paid via W-2, then taxes would be taken out.
Do you know for certain if that 28% deduction is actually being paid to the IRS??
