No, she didn't mean to hit 5.5. I know that 9 is astonishing, believe me we were astonished. That truck has always done exceptionally well on the mpg. That may have been a rare thing there, but it consistently gets anywhere btwn 6.5 and 7.5. And the point was that it was obvious that there was something suspicious when the driver got 3 to 4 mpg and anybody else got so much better.
Am I getting robbed or just being paranoid??

One think I've seen mentioned on this board before, but hasn't been brought up yet. If the trucks are governed at a specific speed, make sure it's in all gears. One of the owners posted a story about his driver getting horrible MPG and getting speeding tickets. Turned out only the top gear was governed, so the driver used a lower gear for normal driving so he could speed.

I forgot to mention earlier.....I think your driver's probably selling fuel and if he is he needs to go.
I hear these morons in truck stops every weekend selling Fuel, chains and binders, spare tires, load locks and just about everything else that's not welded to the truck...I hate theives!Logan76 and fleetoperator1 Thank this. -
I'd love to somehow catch one of my drivers doing this. Any tips on how to do this? I think I have 1-2 others that do similar stuff, it's very annoying.
And I like to think I pay my guys well, $0.38/mile # 2500-3500 miles per week + 2 PAID weeks of vacation/yr.
Someone help me catch these scum bags. -
Could you limit how much fuel they can put on each day? Only enable them to put on 'x' number of gallons, enough to cover their route for the day? I'm sure some of the others can provide better ideas.

About the only way you are really going to catch them in the act is to follow them, (or pay someone to do it,) wherever they go. Get your video camera going every time they stop. If they are actually selling fuel, (and I don't see any other answer for what is happening,) sooner or later you will catch them.
And if you go to all the trouble and expense of doing this, I sincerely hope you will make it a law enforcement problem instead of just firing them and sending them down the road to victimize their next employer.fleetoperator1 Thanks this. -
The only thing you can do is get rid of them.Do you have some kind of incentive for your drivers to get good mpg. This might help some.extra money for improving your mpg can go a long way. Ive had weeks where I avg over 8.0.Of course all the other drivers are on the C.B. GOING, WHATS THE HOLD UP UP THERE.lolfleetoperator1 Thanks this.

5 getcha 8 that these drivers are part of the "i'm a victim, you owe me" or "hate the rich guy (you)" crowd. Got alot of them around lately. Be careful about firing them cause you bet they know every lawyer in the state. New Orleans and Baton Rouge are full of them.
