What about the other drivers that are running local. Is there pay comparable to yours or are they paid on a different scale? Activity pay etc..... What was the issue with your appointments? Not ragging on you but I have never heard of anyone getting suspended for a whole month because of missing appointment times and dates. That usually means getting fired. Hopefully you will find what you need.

I was kind of wondering along the same lines, not saying that the o.p. isn't having valid issues with the current position but if you were only running an average of 1500 miles a week otr and missing delivery windows and delivery dates that sounds like a motivational issue.

    BigRigNate,

Do what Chinatown suggested and get all of your endorsements as well as the TWIC card. It will open up many more doors for you. You deserve more. Many people say that trucking is a lifestyle. For me, I don't see it that way. I already have a lifestyle. Trucking just pays for it. I'm a local driver that is home every day. I've never slept in a box behind the cab. That's something I was never interested in. Some like it and more power to them. Good luck on your future endeavors.

Without reading 6+ pages of responses, you have to calculate what your day earns you while you are ‘at work’, not your commute time, thats your burden nobody else’s. Don’t blame Swift because of where you live, you didn’t have to take the job.

I thought the doubles/triples endorsement required a road test?

I’m in the truck during the commute. I take the truck home every night. Time in the truck, is time working.

Absolutely! I’ll be doing that this Monday. Studying like crazy all weekend, so I can get it all done in one day.

I haven’t asked about the pay scale. But I brought up the issue to my dispatch who I’ve been working with from the beginning (October 2021) and he’s not willing to set me up with a different pay scale. So I’ll be taking Chinatown’s advice and getting all endorsements and my TWIC, and applying for a lot of the different jobs he posted. It’s time to find something else.

The issue with my appointments before, was all mental. I don’t like to make excuses, and saying “I was depressed” feels like a cop-out. But I don’t know how else to explain what was going on with me. I didn’t like where I was, or how my life was going at the time. I’m still trying to get over all the BS. I’m 30 and have nothing going for me. I’m technically homeless. My car was repossessed while I was going through trucking school. I thought I was going to get married last year, and she left me for some stupid reasons. I even got crazy attached to her kids. Treated them like my own. Didn’t matter. It’s been a rough year.
