Am I going about this the wrong way.

Everything but the house is paid for, wife makes a lot of money, and I played it smart at UPS and banked everything I could while I has making 100k+/yr. I do spend too much on toys (Porsche 993, the f750 etc) but I think I have almost everything I want so I'm good on that end. The only thing I want to add to the stable is a old cabover, I want to make a ramp truck out of one just because I think it would be cool. That can wait and even if it doesn't I have the money set aside for it. I do have a 8 year old daughter and I don't know how I would handle being away from her for weeks on end, I say I could do it but once I'm out there I might change my story because we are very close. I could do gone all week home weekends because I work nights now so it's almost like I'm not home during the week as it is. That's why I was thinking a line haul could work.

Smart man. I am a ####ing idiot for letting it go. At the time I would have bet you everything I owned that I would never need it again and now look at me lol.

 

linehaul would definatly be better . it tough OTR cuz u never know when u gonna be home. i been out about a month and a half now just put in for hometime yesterday but im 2500 miles away so i wont be there til next week. but u might even be able to find something regional , atleast get home the weekends at the very worst. local get home everynight but such long days.. but linehaul most them guys run at night so that like u said is probably ur best bet.....

 

Nah you will find the right situation. Have you thought of paying a 3rd party school to use their setup and testing you out?

I turned mine in some time ago to prevent the state from drastically wrecking in in Class A punishments. It was literally easier to keep the medicines going on a car license back then. If something did happen it's just a plain car license. Whoopie. Now if that was a CDL under grandfathered, it would be a holocaust.

 

I have honestly not thought of that. I'll call a few schools and see if I can just test and if they have manuals. This is me applying for a job.

Work history: solid as a rock
Valid CDL: nope

There’s quite a few LTL companies around here that do dock-to-driver programs. Some it’s a few months, some it’s a little longer depending on demand. I would trash your idea of going OTR with a mega

 

I would like to thank everyone for the words of encouragement...I thought I had ####ed up on a irreparable level for some reason. I am getting dressed as we speak to go to a interview at a Budweiser distributor that starts out on the dock, you get your permit and they take it from there for you to get your CDL. I never thought I could miss a little piece of plastic so much, I have learned my lesson that even if I'm going to take some time off doing something else.... NEVER let it go again.

 

On a side note: I always had envy for the beer and soda truck guys when I was a package driver. It was like the same job I was doing except they got to play with big boy trucks.
