You can only make money running paper logs in an ungoverned truck built before 2000.
If you're in a newer governed elog truck, please stop taking your break at the fuel pumps and then parking in a spot just long enough to pee on the blacktop and throw out your Walmart bag full of pooh. And also stop driving thru the truckstop in high gear.
Am I making decent money

My first full year,2015, I grossed 58k at Schneider Bulk. If I would have run that many miles a week, I would have made a LOT more!

With 4 years in you should be aware of that by now unless you just aren't paying attention to what's going on around you.
It's JB. Of course their recruiters lie. Just another bottom of the barrel company. It's not like that's some huge secret.
The good gigs are out there but they don't come looking for you. They don't have to. You have to find them.
Both my training company and the one I'm with now the recruiters were straight up and delivered on at least 90% of what they promised. In fact, where I am now they actually undersold it and I've done much better than what the recruiters said.
You gotta think out of the box and don't just go with the usual suspects. -
50k in Arkansas is not the same as 50k in California or New York. If you are paying your medical, I would say you are right on par with the rest of the industry. Not in the top tier but not in the bottom either.
Asking if you are making decent money is like asking what is better Pete or KW. It's all subjective and only you can decide that.jamesh1979, Raiderfanatic, xlsdraw and 1 other person Thank this. -
If I was only clearing 700 after 4 years I'd find another company or line of work. Heck if I was only clearing 700 after 2 years I'd bounce. Roofer, you have too much experience to be working for a #### company.
CasanovaCruiser Thanks this. -
As stated before, talking take home pay isn't the best way to figure this out. But neither is gross. Medical and 401k @6% tells me that if you can pay your bills your not doing bad. Can you make more? Oh yes. But none of us should be here to judge you.
tucker Thanks this. -
If I were just going to drive company van, I would drive for JB or DART I think. I drove for JB ten years ago doing the western super regional, and unfortunately took home $700 a week after taxes and insurance. I say unfortunately because that was ten years ago, and you said your making the same. Now I don't know how long you been driving and all the parameters.
Like goat said; Are you happy? That's all that matters man.
Ive heard lots of guys say they pull down $1100 or $1200 at DHT, and they seem to have nice equipment, and run an easy lane. -
Raiderfanatic and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I take it your 401k is taxes. How much medical do you pay? (We only pay a little for glasses and dental).
I'm in UK we pay income tax at 20% after the first $15,750. Also a 'national insurance' of 12% over $12,000. Wether married/children or not.
I get paid by the hour on a 48 hour week on a salary of $40,000 (zero nights out) and take home about $2,800 monthly.
This is easily topped up by overtime at $24 an hour.
My wife wants me to move to America. -
