The tons get lower with lower speed?
Really? My load actually gets lighter with reduced speed?

If I weigh at 24 tons while not moving, how many tons will I weigh while going 60 MPH?

    MidWest_MacDaddy and tinytim Thank this.

You are not slowing early, you are not already jaking down through the gears in anticipation of being in 5th and doing your turn smooth. That means somewhere prior to your left turn lane ahead about 200 yards you would already begin the deceleration process which should end in the near futrue when you reach the left turnlane in the gea yuou aawant which is in this case 5th and moving steady and ready to turn your wheel should that light continue to be green so you can turn thedamn thing.

Again, be prepared for the child chasing a ball, a lady falling out for a domestic wtd. Anythigng will happen potentially.

What makes a few people a elite trucker is eyes that see into the future before eveyrone in view actually begins the preparations to make that future useful.

You shouldn't be in 9th gear at all, that's like 45 mph.You should be in 3rd or 4th or even less depending how heavy your load is.Start downshifting a block or so before you make the turn so by the time you're at your turn you'll be in the right gear and it'll be nice and smooth. It really does depend how every you are.If you're light you can make the turn in 4th or 5th depending on the turn itself. If you're heavy you may need to drop it down to 2nd 353rd or 4th.It also depends how much traffic is in the area. Also if the light is green before you make the turn plan on it changing before you get up to the lite and plan on it changing to red.

He said rolling along towards a left turn, not that he was attempting a turn in 9th...
