I hear you SFW! It makes it really nice if you have a good truck. Though beware a brand new shiny truck can have more problems than an old beater! I know, I have bought a few!
Well there you have it, two sides of what its like to be out there! -
No
OTR is fun.
One day I'm waking up to a million dollar view on a mountain top and the next I'm drinking "free" beers while gambling in Vegas.
Course..the next day I can be sweating my balls off in Phoenix or freezing them in the rockies, but hey...
The sweet aint so sweet without some bitter!
Driving some day cab locally would get old for me fast.....boring. -
ummm yeah basicly

I don't think you are nuts at all. I agree with another poster who said to take your time and do your research to find a company you feel would be a good fit for you. Talk to recruiters, (take what they say w/ a grain of salt), read threads on here about the company(ies) you are considering again take some of what you read here w/ a grain of salt, chk CSA scores, and go with the company you feel would be a good fit for you. Best of luck to you no matter what you choose to do.

Being nuts is a listed prerequisite for entrance into any part of the trucking industry.
So, yes....you are. But it's cool....you're in good company! -
Ok. Here's an update. The Mack is finally gone! It was replaced by a 2013 International Transtar with a Maxxforce 13 engine. What a piece of crap that motor was! The computer kept downgrading the engine while demanding a parked regen! I'm no mechanic, but I was pretty sure it shouldn't have happened three times in one week! So I brought it back to Ryder. They found something like 35 differen trouble codes. And now...I'm in a 2011 Freightliner Cascadia with a Detroit Diesel DD13. I love this truck so far....
