And that is my gripe too. In the past 6 months I have trained exactly 2 drivers who I thought wouldn't get a job. Both of them were told as much before they came to school and signed waivers stating that the school didn't feel like they were employable. That being said, I found both of them jobs.
One of the guys had 2 armed robberies in 1988, and a 25+ speeding ticket in 2007, he went to work with Western Express. He left there, because he didn't like his trainer and got another job somewhere, but had to quit because his wife got sick. I have recently started working with him again, he has a job offer with May Trucking I think but they want him to do a 40 hr. refresher which I am doing for free. He told me that Transam had agreed to hire him with an 80 hour refresher.
The other guy had 2 felony charges that were nolle processed, and 3 20+ tickets in the past 5 years. He is now employed with CRST. Not a great company as far as I'm concerned but it's a job, whereas I never thought he would get one.
Other than this, every person I have trained is virtually spotless, and with the right amount of OJT can be great drivers.
Am i really crazy? Seriously
