The felonies are over 20 years old.

The DUI is over 10 years old.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Everybody on this site harps and harps about being truthful when applying for a job, and now you say that this poor guy should just flat-out lie his way in?

What's gonna happen when they catch the lie? He'll really be screwed then.

    mje and NavigatorWife Thank this.

Definitely don't take this guy's ^^^ advice. The background check will turn up the felonies, and after that you will truly be screwed. You may have to beat the bushes to find a job, but be persistent AND truthful- and you'll be successful.

With today's hiring standards by both the trucking companies and the Department of Transportation, (D.O.T.), applicants must tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help them God. Also, applicants must volunteer any and all information about themselves to avoid being accused of withholding information.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Doesn't matter how old it is, if its for theft robbery or rape you will be denied. You can best bet once your hired, they dig deeper into your background (what they don't tell you) so if you were lying then they can ruin you for good. Yea, they can only go back 7 years legally but anyone can make up a B.S. just like the applicant has and say someone called and informed them or they stumbled across it etc etc. Then because of the application contract terms and right to work terms, they can fire him, put his lies on record and he wouldn't have a foot to stand on in trying to fight them back for wrongful search. Its not what you know, its what you can prove and with a few felonies on his record and the screwed up corrupt justice system being the way it is, they will favor in the trucking firms proceedings and he will still get screwed in the end. Even if the company does violate those rights, what they get slapped on the hand and a possible fine? I'm sure they would rather do that and loose a small bit of chump change rather than a truck, load or both from being stolen or even wrecked by an inexperienced driver which would lead into the hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars if he killed someone with the truck. Plus add on top of weeding out the in their eyes, no gooders so they can't get hired and is less likely to be on the road being a possible threat to one of their trucks with someone else's.

    My reply by mje:
What it comes down to is that an applicants life is an open book.
Any "missing pages" or "unread chapters" will cause an applicant to either be denied a job or to be terminated from one if already hired.
