i felt the same way about the T880 when they came out. but the T880 grew on me. especially since i got one two months ago and realized how much more comfortable they are over the T800 i had. at least the W990 is better looking than a volva
So I'm not the only one that thinks that? Never was a huge Peterbilt fan. The 359/379/389 all look pretty much alike. Plus they hardly ever stand out because everyone dresses them up exactly the same.
No you are definitely not the only one. I have always thought Pete's were ugly. Some of the new models are actually okay looking, but the older trucks were ugly 40 years ago, and still are...I am far from the only one who feels that way around here to. I've heard many people say similar things, and when I was first getting to know Stephanie, who is now my wife, she rode with me one day. We stopped for lunch and were parked around many other trucks, she asked me what the ugly trucks were. I said which ones do you mean? Those ugly ones that seem like nothing fits together its just scrap yard parts thrown together. I laughed so hard, and said wow you really do think like me, those are Peterbilt trucks, and I feel that same way about them. I know that Pete's have their fans, and good for them...what confuses me is that they somehow think they are a better truck than the rest. Everyone I see here seems to be falling apart in no time. There is a truck repair shop in town that I talk to the guys from regularly. They are always saying that the most problematic truck of the major brands they see in their shop are Pete's....i will add that here I never really see any International trucks, so I doubt that they are talking about them. When I was considering getting Mack's, I swung by their shop to get their thoughts on them. They were very positive about Mack trucks and said they are really reliable. I sure have been finding that to be true myself. To all Pete fans, more power to you guys and gals. But they are certainly not everyone's cup of tea.
Saying ANY new truck is better than any other is silly, like saying a Hyundai is different than a Kia. All trucks today use pretty much the same components underneath. I wouldn't buy a new anything today. Years ago, my '72 small window 359 Pete (in avatar) was the nicest truck you could drive, and there was a big difference between a White Road Commode, or a Jimmy 9500 and a Pete or KW. It's just the way it was. It had little, if anything , in common with a new Pete today.
Volvos are nothing but a giant Prius, I consider driving one of those to be cruel and unusual punishment like waterboarding.
