yesterday had 2 be rushed to er caz leg doubled in size after surgery on 10/10. doc told me that I have blood clot in leg. and increased my warfin from 10mg to 12mg. with doc doing things by book and he issues medical cards also. with a smile he informed me that even if I get better within the next 3 months from surgery. he told me that dot rule book says that with a DVT/PE and or both found the driver can not drive for next 3 months and after those 3 months I have to prove my blood is under control with 3 INR's that is between 2.0 and 3.0. then they told me I cant go back to physical therapy. so im dammed if I do and dammed If I don't. the er said as long as im between 2.5-3.5 they usually send patients home. my blood was 2.4 so they gave me an extra dose of warfin at 12mg and 2 painful shots of lovenox in my stomach which is gonna leave bruise. in 2011 I almost died from blood clots that time they made it to my lungs but since I no signs of blood clots hospital caught it early its just in my leg now. but the hospital er give me drill of if I have chest pains or sudden on set of headache go immediately to hospital and inform them about my blood clot I have in leg. im at point now to give up trucking all together. when it rains it poors I was only off my meds for 5 days for surgery on Thursday went back on that Friday a week later got blood clot in leg. And follow up with primary doc within 5 days

Sorry you've had to go through this. Your health is more important than any job, you know. Sounds like if you ignore medical advice it's potentially catastrophic even behind a desk, let alone behind a steering wheel. Have you looked into how you would do on SSI?

Have a buddy who survived a catastrophic car wreck. Most would have died right there; most any who survived would have been vegetables. He 'looks' normal and it's only after you get to know him well that it's clear his 'quirks' are medical, not inherent. He was homeless for a long time, living in his car. Finally got his SSI and Medicare less than two years ago, but now he has a life.

It wasn't easy to get SSI approved, had been denied because on a good day he looks fine. A homeless shelter/soup kitchen had the staff to assist him in the right direction to a final approval. As a result he has a more than decent place to live, nice car to drive. A life.

Let's save the bickering. The forum isn't here for breaking balls as you say landstar, stalking or belittling anyone. If members don't like each other I suggest you use the ignore feature you find in your control panel.

DVT's or blood clots in the legs are very common for truck drivers in fact they use us as a high risk example in medical school I'm told. I had 3 in my upper left thigh over a period of 3 years and then convinced the doctors to leave me on warfarin for life. I have to take a very high dose of 20 mg/day because i'm apparently Hyper Coagulative which means that my blood clots far too quickly for my own good. As long as you keep your INR's within range and get out of the truck every couple hours to keep the blood flowing you can keep on trucking. It's been 13 years since I had my last one.

All kidding aside the DOT and FMCSA are looking for another way to shove it up our ###.Not to mention the ''new'' way to money grab...

Once they make there Millions on the stupid E-LOG Agenda, they will go into Speed Limiters and Poka-Dotted Jock Straps while driving a CMV...

As it looks know they are zoning in on FAT TRUCKERS and looking to make a big score on Heavy Out Of Shape Truckers...Again,this is another Money Grab, brought to you from the Greedy POS that dwell on Pennsylvania Ave..

Pretty soon many many truckers will be ''indoctrinated'' into this way of thinking, just like the E-BABYSITTERS.People will frown and look down at Heavy Truckers and call them UNSAFE VIOLENT DRIVERS...Just like us Paper Loggers...

Its so sick once you crack the code and see how it all plays out and how the SHEEPLES jump onto the Kool-Aid wagon...

my brother in law went through the same thing at the beginning of the year. don't kjnow what his routine is for health now. but he's back to work.

    funny how life works.

he was a healthy boozer and smoker. gained weight when he quit smoking. suffers blood disease now he doesn't drink anymore. thicker blood.

keep your chin up and follow doctors orders. it'll all work out. somewhere in new mexico. is another trucker in your situation. and he's getting through it.

landstar, this isn't about the gooberment. it's about health. and blood clots is a serious business. NOT something you want to be taking lightly if it were you.
