Much more parking at the t/a in amarillo tx since the idleaire is gone. Unfortunately it is still a substandard stop in my opinion

Can't really say what's the "best" TS in Amarillo, but I usually park at the J - always been able to find a space. As for food, I call the Steakhouse a mile down the street - they send a Caddy/Lincoln limo complete with longhorns on the hood for you (no charge), take you down to the steakhouse and back again. Great steak dinners too and fairly reasonably priced.

That place rocks. Your right on the fact there are no " best TS " in the dillo. The J not bad. I used to stop of the one off Pullman road across the hwy from the old Pilot. It was a little run down place, but the food was good and it was quiet over 98% of the time. I have not been in Amarillo in 9 years so I dont know if the place is still open or not, I am sure things have changed in that town.

Petro is across from the filthy nasty Pilot in Amarillo. None of them is very good. Petro is best I have stayed at.

I know where the Petro at. The Pilot there is a newer one, I think it's the old Williams. The old Pilot is east of that on 40. I don't know if it's still a Pilot or not.

Here is the url with phone and contact info: http://www.bigtexan.com/Contact.html They have truck parking round the back, but has always been pretty full anytime I've been there, so I just park at the J and take the limo ride.

    Bumpy Thanks this.

My first trip to Houston was right after a Denver area driver got mugged and set on fire at the J in Amarillo. My wife was scared to death, made me call her every 3 hrs til I got back. Didn't even stop in Amarillo, just passed thru, missed one check-in call with her and never heard the end of it.
