Its all these literally "fools" willing to haul for so cheap. If its not paying $2/mile screw them, and wait till someone gives you that. THere is no reason to beat your truck down just to move, and make what you would make working at Starbucks

Yes, Yes, Yes - I believe 70% of the issue on rates comes down to the driver. But if you read or talk to them it is broker or shippers or fuel companies or or or...

You clearly don't understand how FSC is calculated. At $4.00 the FSC is $.55/mile. Getting 7 mpg it is costing you $.57 / mile to run.

My average fuel cost at the pump after discounts this last week was roughly $3.65 a gallon. I am getting .45 a mile FSC. My average mpg for this last week was roughly 7.8 mpg (hand calculated pump to pump). Truck computer said a little over 8.1 mpg for the week. So I did make a tiny mistake when I said .03 a mile cost for fuel. Actually around 2 cents a mile for fuel. The higher the fuel goes, the less I actually pay for it.

I admit my mpg was a little higher than normal for winter months. Not so for summer months. Actual average mpg for year round comes in at around 7.3 mpg. I press up against 8 quite often in the summer months. The ISX does pretty good when you disable the emissions crap, clear out restrictions in the exhaust, and you drive it right.

I clearly understand how the fuel surcharge works but running a flatbed in the northeast running at gross you do not get 7mpg closer to 5.5 to 6 which makes my fuel cost more and fuel up here is north of $4 a gallon plus i do not get a discount on fuel like so many do. Getting 7mpg a .45 fuel surcharge and paying $3.65 for fuel makes it all come together now.
